St. Bartholomew’s Hospital was founded in 1123 by a monk named Rahere. The museum tells the story of this renowned institution, celebrates its achievements and explains its place in the history of medical science and education. On display are original and facsimile archives dating back to the 12th Century; objects from the hospital’s unique collections, including works of art; and surgical instruments and medical equipment used in the hospital.
