St. John the Evangelist Church is located in a leafy residential area of Notting Hill high above most of the other buildings. The area where the church now stands was once the spectator zone for the racecourse that ran around the Notting Hill suburb. The church was built in the mid 19th Century to accommodate the ever-expanding areas of Notting Hill and Holland Park on the western fringes of London. It is now home to a large an eclectic Christian population.
