This church was founded by the Saxon noble Wulfnoth on the site of a Roman Temple dedicated to Concord. One of the few churches not to have been built by Wren, it is one of the most famous architectural structures in the area. Designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor and completed in 1721, the church is known for its heavily rusticated front. The church is situated right in the heart of the financial district, surrounded by the Bank of England, Royal Exchange and Mansion House. Interestingly, the entrance that once led to the crypt now leads into Bank underground station.
