A statue to commemorate the famous U.S. president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, stands on the north side of Grosvenor Square in fashionable Mayfair. Born in 1882, Roosevelt served no less than four terms in office between the years of 1933-1945 and lays claim to being the only president to serve more than two terms. Throughout his presidency, he battled with an illness that resulted in his total and permanent paralysis from the waist down which meant he was confined to a wheelchair for much of his life.
