Viscount Slim is celebrated by this beautiful bronze statue that stands about half way down Whitehall between Trafalgar Square and the Palace of Westminster. Slim was a soldier and colonial administrator. He is probably best remembered in his role as Governor General of Australia. In fact the Lordship of Slim was one created especially for him in 1960 to honour his bravery as a soldier and success as a governor.
