The Streatham War Memorial is a simple but extremely poignant obelisk close to the main high street of the suburb and on the edge of the common. The structure was erected in the mid 20th Century to commemorate the bravery and loss of the many men of the area who lost their lives fighting for their country, freedom and democracy in both the First and Second World Wars. The monument acts as the centrepiece for local Armistice Day commemorations.
