Sutton Green stands on the very edge of Sutton town centre and has for centuries been an important part of life in the borough. Historically the green would have been a place of trading as well as a place of meeting and recreation. Today much of the green has been converted into a children's play area. However a significant proportion of the green has been left simply turfed to allow the townspeople to decide what they want to do there. Often this is sitting, relaxing playing and walking dogs.
