Although not mentioned in the Domesday book, Teddington has been permanently settled since Saxon times. It is the home of Teddington Studios, which opened in 1958. Teddington Lock was used as the location for filming the famous Monty Python Fish-Slapping Dance sketch. There are two royal parks, Bushy Park and Richmond Park.
