This 4-tonne bronze statue was created by sculptor Philip Jackson, based on photographs of scenes following West Germany’s 4-2 defeat by England in the 1966 World Cup tournament at Wembley Stadium. It shows England captain Bobby Moore being carried shoulder-high by Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters, with Ray Wilson looking on. The statue cost £725,000 and was unveiled by the Duke of York in April, 2003. It is located opposite the Boleyn pub, Barking Road (outside West Ham United FC stadium).
