A Catholic church located in the heart of Mayfair, St George’s has welcomed worshippers since the 18th Century. The building was created from a design by John James as a result of a Parliamentary Act in 1711. Today the church retains many of the original features, such as a 1724 painting of the ‘Last Supper’ by William Kent and windows consisting of early 16th Century Flemish glass from Antwerp. One famous regular was the composer, George Handel, and as a result the church now hosts the annual Handel Festival.
