Opened in 1971, the Photographer’s Gallery was the first independent gallery in Britain devoted exclusively to photography. The gallery has developed a strong reputation as the UK’s key venue for contemporary photography and was the first gallery in the UK to exhibit the work of artists such as André Kertesz, Jaques-Henri Lartigue and Irving Penn. The gallery programme includes an innovative range of exhibitions and educational events and there is a well-stocked bookshop and a café on the premises.
