Construction of this beautiful house began in 1619, and was originally intended to be part of the Royal palace of Placentia. The Civil War amongst other things prevented it being fully developed until 1662 when Charles II had John Webb overhaul the structure. After briefly being occupied by Charles’ wife Henrietta, the building became the official residence of the Greenwich Park Ranger in 1690. It is one of the finest preserved properties of its type both inside and out.
