The architect Inigo Jones designed this stately villa in 1616, on a commission from King James I. King Charles I later gave it to his Queen, Henrietta Maria, who lived there briefly. The interior of the building has been restored in the style of the 1660s and contains a display of carvings, sculptures and furniture, both originals and replicas. It is also a showcase for fine art belonging to the National Maritime Museum.
