This statue stands beside the river Thames, close to the Old Chelsea Church on the main thoroughfare along the north bank of the Thames. It commemorates one of the most famous sons of the area Sir Thomas Moore, theologian, philosopher and statesman who served faithfully under King Henry VIII during in the lead up to the reformation but ultimately lost his life standing up for what he believed in.
