The Tristan Bates Theatre is a new and innovative theatre within the West End, having opened in the 1990s. It was made possible by the donation of Sir Alan Bates, and the theatre is named after his son who tragically died at the age of nineteen whilst just starting his acting career. The venue has a capacity of 75, and hosts projects developed in the adjoining Actors Centre. The theatre concentrates on new and innovative work, with performances of daring work that would not be seen in many other venues.
