Alfred Waterhouse, as a replacement to University College Hospital, designed the fantastic building in 1896. Waterhouse was one of the great architects of the Victorian age and was responsible for many of Central London’s greatest buildings including the Natural History Museum in Kensington. The Hospital was one of the most groundbreaking at its time, with a unique design and modern fittings. After the hospitals closure in 1995 the Building was bought by University College London and converted into their research centre for biology.
