The Waterloo Millennium pier is often known as the London Eye Pier, because it was built around the same time as the Millennium Wheel in 2000 and operates river cruises as part of the London Eye Experience. The pier also operates commuter services for Londoners as a fast and effective way to avoid rush hour traffic. The pier is part of a recent regeneration of London’s piers, with the Millbank Millennium Pier near the Tate Modern being another example of the increasing use of the River Thames as a transport link.
