Wellington House
133-155 Waterloo Road, Waterloo, London SE1 8UG - England, UK

Map
Wellington House is the current home of the Department of Health, and is a combination of new and old buildings. The ashlar façade is part of what used to be the David Grieg Department Store, which opened in the 1920’s. The giant pillars that make up the façade have a Grade 2 listed status, but the rest of the building was demolished many years ago. The Department of Health building was constructed behind the pillars in 1979, and shows how the old can be saved to enhance the new.
