The Whitechapel Art Gallery is one of the finest permanent collections of artwork outside the centre of London. Based on Whitechapel Road in East London within walking distance of Liverpool Street Station and ‘the city’ this gallery is surrounded by a vibrant and inspirational cosmopolitan area. Many of the artists whose work exhibits in the gallery live in East London although the gallery regularly exhibits works by some of the world's better known artists.
