The Wimbledon Windmill Museum is housed in an old windmill in the middle of picturesque Wimbledon Common. It depicts the history of windmills and milling through working exhibits, examples of tools used and pictures. The museum offers a ‘hands on’ milling experience for children. A Roehampton carpenter built the mill in 1817 and it saw nearly a hundred years of active service. In the early 2oth century the mill fell into disrepair before it was renovated and turned into a museum. The museum is open throughout the summer months, but you must book in advance to visit in the off-season.
