Windmill Gardens has for many years been a place where local people in the congested south London suburb of Brixton have been able to enjoy a little piece of pastoral calm away from the streets and the cars. The gardens have been geared to children, with excellent play facilities in the shadow of the grand old windmill which is nearby. The area is popular throughout the year and during the summer months encourages picnickers.
