Woolwich Ferry dates from the 1300s, when Woolwich was just a fishing village. In the 1880s, Sir Joseph Bazalgette launched the free ferry service, which today connects the North and South Circular roads. Three ferries are used, all built in 1963 in Dundee. The ferry is operated by the London Borough of Greenwich, and financed and owned by Transport for London. Weather permitting, it runs every day at 10-minute intervals.
