Lying two miles off the end of the Lleyn Peninsula, this small island can be reached by boat from Aberdaron or Pwllheli. Once a place of Christian pilgrimage, 20,000 saints are purported to be buried here and today’s visitors can view the ruins of the thirteenth century Abbey of Saint Mary. The island is now managed as a nature reserve and is home to an outstanding array of bird and marine life. Notable inhabitants include a breeding colony of Manx shearwater and the Atlantic grey seal.
