Commanding a prime position in the heart of Betws-y-Coed, St Mary’s is a notable example of a Victorian parish church, which was built in 1879 specifically to cater for the expanding congregation of the town. The nearby old 14th century church of St Michael was simply no longer able to accommodate them all. St Mary’s is especially worthy of attention for its fine stone tower. It also has a pleasing interior which is famous for its stunning stained glass windows.
