Map
Criccieth Castle is a prominent North Wales landmark, positioned on a high mound overlooking the town of Criccieth and the sea of Tremadog Bay. The Welsh leader Owain Glyn Dwr captured and burnt the castle back in 1404 and the castle still bears signs of scorching. Sadly the castle is now in ruins and very little of the original building has survived. It is still worthy of a visit, however, offering an interesting combination of both Welsh and English remains.
