The high hillsides on the west side of the Conwy Valley above Llanrwst are riddled with tunnels and caverns remaining from mines excavated for lead and zinc ore. Rarely profitable, most of the mines closed at the begining of the 20th Cenury. Some interesting remains can be found and at the Cyffty Mine site are large wheelpits, a covered mineshaft, buddles and walls of buildings. Look out for information boards and listening posts.
