Denbigh Castle
Castle Hill, Denbigh, Denbighshire LL16 - Wales, UK
  Share Location Map

Denbigh Castle is situated just outside of this Welsh town and was one of the most important military strongholds in this area of Wales. Built in the 13th Century, the castle was intended to fortify the area after the conquest of King Edward I of England. Only the ruins of the castle can be seen today, but that which still exists has been beautifully restored and protected by Welsh Heritage.

In 2010 I started a love affair with Welsh castles, nowhere else in the UK are there so many wonderful, exciting and novel designs of castles and Denbigh Castle is one of these. I loved it from the moment I passed through its triple towed gatehouse and entered into the castle. Being part of Denbigh too makes it really accessible and a walk along the town wall really links the castle to the town. Wonderful stuff. - Anthony Capper
