In a prominent position outside the church of St Giles, Elihu Yale’s inscribed tomb tells the story of his life in a rhyming nine line verse composed by himself. With a fortune amassed from his time working at the East India Company he is best known for having Yale University named after him. The chancel gates and a painting of King David which hangs on the north wall of the ante nave were both donated to the church by this wealthy benefactor.
