The A542 road to the Horseshoe Pass offers some of the most spectacular views in Wales as it climbs from Llangollen around a wide valley to form the shape of its name. At the top of this dramatic pass is a car park and, on the opposite side of the road, a cafe with seating outside. The pass is a good starting point for moorland walks and walks to the summit of Llantysilio Mountain. In winter, the road is sometimes blocked by snow.
