Llanrwst Almshouses were founded in the early 17th Century by the locally powerful Sir John Wynn of nearby Gwydir Castle in the Conwy Valley. Built to provide twelve single room dwellings for the elderly of the parish, they were in use until the 1970s. Following restoration work, the almshouses have reopened as a museum with 17th and 19th Century reconstructed rooms, and exhibitions about the history of Llanrwst, which is a small market town. Fascinating to visit, the museum is in a lane off Ancaster Square, in the town centre.
