Visitors to the Llechwedd Slate Caverns enjoy a wealth of experiences with a choice of two underground mine tours – The Miners Tramway and The Deep Mine Tour – complete with hard hats supplied. Still a working mine, the tours provide a fascinating insight into the history and use of slate, one of Wales’ traditional industries. With tours complete, there is an opportunity to explore the original Victorian village, built when the mines were at their peak and indulge in sweets the way they used to be from the Victorian Sweet Shop.
