Plas Mawr means the Great Hall. Built by Welsh merchant Robert Wynn between 1576 and 1585, Plas Mawr stands proudly in the centre of Conwy’s High Street. It is one of Britain’s finest examples of an Elizabethan town house and it is perfectly preserved and has been skilfully renovated. With its courtyards, arches, lime-rendered walls, plasterwork and friezes, it is a ‘must see’ on any trip to North Wales – a real gem of 16th Century history.
