Perched right on the tip of the Lleyn peninsula, this small, coastal church has one of the most scenic churchyards in Wales. The church was once an important place of worship for pilgrims travelling to the nearby island of Bardsey and still holds regular services. When the famous poet, the Reverend R. S. Thomas, moved to Aberdaron in 1967, he preached at Saint Hywyn’s for several years. Its spectacular position makes the churchyard a popular film location and it has appeared in an episode of Inspector Morse.
