St Beuno is the most famous of the Celtic saints in north Wales and he is the founder of the parish church at Clynnog Fawr. He established a monastic community on the site about AD630, and in the Middle Ages it was on the pilgrim`s route to Bardsey Island. His tomb lay in a detached chapel, now attached to the main church, until the 19th Century. Rebuilt in the 16th Century, the church has many interesting features. There is a rood screen dating from 1531, an ancient chest hollowed out of a log and dog tongs. Outside is an unusual 12th century sundial.
