Erbistock is a tiny, picturesque hamlet lying beside the River Dee and it is thought that St Erbin, a Celtic saint, founded the settlement and ferry. There have been several churches on the site and the present building was started in 1860 as a memorial to Henry Ellis Boates by his wife Caroline. It is a small, neat, sandstone neo-Gothic church containing some earlier artefacts and memorials. Outside the south porch there is an 18th Century sundial mounted on the shaft of an ancient cross.
