Once known as the ‘Pearl of the Vale’ but nowadays as the ‘Marble Church’, St Margaret’s was erected by Lady Willoughby de Broke in memory of her husband. She laid the foundation stone on the 24th July 1856 and it took over four years and £60,000 to complete. With pillars made of single shafts of Belgian Red marble and the nave entrance pillars constructed of regional Anglesey marble - this richly adorned and decorated church with its elaborate wood work and stained glass windows is well worth a visit.
