St Mary's Church is on an early Christian site. An Augustinian Priory was established here and, after the dissolution of religious houses in the 16th century, St Mary's was the parish church. A few medieval features remain, including the transept arches and the stonework around the three lancet windows. Many alterations took place in the Victorian period and the north aisle was demolished. The stained glass belongs to the 19th and 20th centuries. Near the yew tree, in the churchyard, there is a gravestone dated 1672.
