St Michael`s Church was the parish church until expanding congregations brought by tourism in the Victorian era necessitated the building of the larger St Mary`s Church. St Michael`s dates from the 14th Century and contains a Norman font. The short north aisle was added in 1843. There is a stone effigy of Gruffydd ap Dafydd Goch who lived at Fedw Deg on the hillside above the River Lledr. His grandfather was Dafydd, the brother of Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, Prince of Wales, and he fought for the Black Prince in the French Wars of Edward 111.
