Talacre Lighthouse stands on the expansive, sandy Talacre Beach at the Point of Ayr which is near the mouth of the Dee Estuary. Built in 1819, it replaces an earlier building that was established in 1777. The lighthouse is 99 feet high and its light could be seen from up to 19 miles away. Since it closed, the lighthouse has served many purposes including being a lookout in wartime and a holiday home.
