Map
The Talyllyn Railway is a narrow gauge, steam railway that makes a journey of seven miles from Tywyn on the coast to Nant Gwernol in the hills above Abergynolwyn. The railway opened in 1865 to transport slate, and in 1950 it was taken over by the Talyllyn Railway Preservation Society, the first of its kind in the world. There are several small stations along the route, where breaks can be taken for walks. Refreshments are available at Tywyn Wharf and Abergynolwyn. Both stations have car parks.
