The former quarry hospital stands on a wooded hillside in Padarn Country Park. It was built in the mid 19th Century for the workers of the nearby Dinorwig quarry, which closed in the 1960s. Accidents occurred frequently and the quarrymen paid a small amount from their wages to maintain the hospital. It is now a museum housing the restored ward, operating theatre and various gruesome 19th Century hospital equipment. The quarry`s mortuary is nearby. After visiting the museum, visitors can enjoy refreshments on the terrace overlooking Llyn Padarn.
