There is a copper mining heritage since prehistoric and Roman times here at Alderley Edge in the fantastic Cheshire countryside. The National Trust protected sandstone escarpment is a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its unique geology. There is a series of fine walking paths through the oak and beech woodlands, taking in breathtaking views of the edge of the Peak District.
