The Heywood family donated this large collection to the town of Bolton in 1948, the main part of the exhibitions are dominated by the Bowyer Bible, a remarkable forty five volume work that is steeped In history. There are works by a great many of the most famous artists of the time and many engravings. Compiled over thirty years, Robert Bowyer was a famous portraitist and publisher.
