There has been an extensive Chinese community in Manchester for a great many years, and it is why this museum was developed, to encourage and develop the talents of the many oriental people living in the northwest of England. The fantastic gallery has a fairly quick turnaround of shows and exhibits contemporary Chinese artworks. Local and regional artists create many of these, but some are shipped in from further flung collections.
