The City of Manchester Stadium was originally built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games and cost around £110 million, but is now the new home of Manchester City Football Club. The club moved from their original Maine Road stadium in 2003 which has been their home since 1923. With a large glass frontage and toroidal shaped design (held up by large steel cables), the City of Manchester Stadium gives the air of a modern facility fit for the 21st Century. The oval shape of the interior takes away the traditional idea of "stands" or "ends", but has increased capacity to around 45,000 and comfort for all the spectators.
