In 1875 work began on Central station, and 1986, the station was reborn as G-MEX, which now together with the Manchester International Convention Centre, opened in 2001, forms one of the premier exhibition centres in the UK. It has three exhibition halls, and an 800 seater auditorium. It is home to a number of major exhibitions such as Mind Body Spirit Northern Festival, the Manchester Art Show, and the National Motorcycle Show.
