Gawthorpe Hall near Burnley is a magnificent 17th Century Jacobean country house built for the Shuttleworth family and restored in the mid 19th century by the renowned architect Sir Charles Barry. The opulent period rooms reflect the life-style of a wealthy aristocratic family in Victorian times. Located amidst formal gardens and wooded grounds, the house displays Jacobean and Victorian furnishings, paintings and the superb Kay-Shuttleworth collection of textiles.
