At Helmshore Textile Museums in Rossendale, you will find two magnificent mills that illustrate the story of Lancashire’s textile industry. Higher Mill was built in 1789 and houses an amazing 6m diameter working waterwheel. Next door, Whitaker’s Mill has an original mule spinning room with regular working demonstrations and is also home to the excellent hands-on gallery ’Revolution!’.
