The Lion Salt Works is a unique survival of the traditional inland salt works that once produced this essential commodity. The site illustrates the whole process of salt production and dates from the late 19th and 20th centuries. It is the only surviving site of its kind in Cheshire, a county that once produced 86% of the nation’s salt.
