The Northwest Sound Archive was established in 1979, and its purpose was to collect and to preserve sound recordings that are relevant to the development of people’s lives in the northwest of the country. The collection offers visitors a fascinating insight into the way that people have lived and developed here. It is open to the public as well as those conducting serious research into the oral tradition.
